Monthly Aquatic Activity
Join us each month as we plan for a fun activity by the pool.
Whether it be a floating pumpkin patch, diving for glow treasures, or watching a movie on an inflatable – there’s something for everyone!
Check out the current programs below. New programs will be added as the year progresses, so check back frequently for more events!
Programs and Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable. Management may issue a partial credit to use at the YMCA of Southern West Virginia. Program staff will determine whether a full or partial credit will be given based on the date and reason of the request. No credits will be issued after the start date of any program.
2) Pirate Movie Night
Ahoy, mateys!
Hoist the sails and dive into a swashbucklin’ good time at our MEMBERS ONLY Indoor Pool Movie Night! Grab yer crew, don yer finest pirate garb, and make a splash while we screen Pirates of the Caribbean on the big screen.
Bring yer own trusty inflatable—be it raft, ring, or mighty sea steed—and float the seven seas in true pirate style. Laugh like a scallywag, soak up the adventure, and enjoy plenty of “Arrr!” moments.
Whether ye swim, float, or lounge dockside, this be one voyage ye won’t want to miss!
All hands on deck—movie night awaits!

3) SPALSH into Easter!
Dive In for an Egg-cellent Easter!
Celebrate Easter with a fun and festive twist at the YMCA! Join us for Splash Into Easter, a unique poolside Easter egg hunt where children will search the water for both floating and sunken eggs.
Participants will collect eggs throughout the pool and then “eggschange” them for candy and treats after the hunt. It’s a splashing good time the whole family will enjoy!
Please Note:
Space is limited — early registration is encouraged
Children 5 years old and under must have an adult in the water within arm’s reach at all times
Don’t miss this egg-citing aquatic adventure. Register early and hop on over for Easter fun at the YMCA!

7) JAWSome Movie Night
We’re gonna need a bigger boat!
Get ready for a shark-sized cinematic adventure! We’re turning the pool into a jawsome experience, perfect for thrill-seekers and families alike. All lane lines will be removed, so bring your own inflatable and float freely through the Open Water… if you dare! Prefer to play it safe? Stay in the Shallows and still enjoy the movie projected on the back wall, giving you that epic summer-movie vibe.
Grab your floaties, muster your courage, and join us for an unforgettable night of thrills, chills, and poolside fun—are you brave enough to face the JAWS?
This is a MEMBERS ONLY free event; however, registration is still required.

10) October: Floating Pumpkin Patch
It’s that time of year to visit the pumpkin patch in search of the best one. So why not do it in the pool? Join us for our Floating Pumpkin Patch on October 24th, 2026, where you can splash around to find your perfect pumpkin floating in the pool. Pumpkins are limited, so make sure to register in advance! There will be a drying station for all pumpkins after you choose the perfect one.

11) November: Let's GLOW Diving!
Ever wonder what the pool looks like with the lights off? Register for this MEMBER ONLY event on November 20th, 2026, at 7pm, and dive for glow sticks! Different colors have different point values. Player with the highest points wins a prize!
All players must be able to dive underwater and touch the bottom of the shallow end of the pool with their hand. Players will be categorized by age and have 2 minutes to retrieve as many glow sticks as possible. Event must have a minimum of 6 participants, or the event will be cancelled.
